A painful shoulder is not automatically a shoulder to operate on. Our first answer is diagnostic: dynamic ultrasound and joint MRI to identify precisely which structure is at fault. When surgery is required, it is arthroscopic in more than eight cases out of ten, as a day case, with an enhanced recovery protocol. Rehabilitation is planned before the operation, never after, and starts within twenty-four hours.
